Posted on 04/23/13 at 12:01 pm in response to Why it’s increasingly likely Michele Bachmann will retire

Reality and Bachmann are mutually exclusive. For someone who really thought she could/should be POTUS - that delusion and hubris still amazes me - I can't believe she's seriously thinking about retiring.

And, on a related, note, she's on the House Intelligence Committee. And people wonder why the GOP can't be taken seriously...

Posted on 01/07/13 at 02:52 pm in response to Game-changing strategy for GOP: Run a woman for governor

Only for the folks who remain stuck in the GOP media bubble machine.

And can you imagine the primary - when a woman's right to choose and -gasp- use birth control will inevitably be questioned by the teavangelicals? Cue "walking it back" and the inevitable tightrope comparisons.

Come to think of it, if nothing else, a woman running for the GOP nod will make it that much more entertaining.

Posted on 12/18/12 at 01:14 pm in response to 9 worst urban planning moves in Twin Cities history

Actually, Borders went out long before Alatus and their casino plan, and prior to Borders going under.

But agree on Alatus and their moves so far to date.

However, if Block E isn't a failure - based on the metrics to date and how it became a giant, ill-designed monolith that always was difficult to actually enter - then I'm not sure how to describe it. There was the opportunity to really create something great and possibly different, instead of an city version of another...

"...even though the public debate never quite focused on the truth of what this was all about. Namely that the push for voter ID in Minnesota was just one weapon in a long-term, well-organized national campaign by the Republican Party and their ultraconservative allies to depress Democratic votes by imposing new burdens on the groups mentioned"

Very true. It was interesting and frustrating to see the local media fall over themselves trying to find "balance" - in their reporting, and...

...the media also didn't report enough on who was responsible for getitng this whole thing moving: the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Would have loved to have seen the relationship Mary Kiffmeyer and other GOPers involved in the Voter ID ammendment explored more.

1.) Whenever these GOPers get caught "unplugged" its always the audience that I listen for. Like that person that asked, "“For the past three years, all everybody’s been told is ‘don’t worry, we’ll take care of you." - that of course is a lie, but that's not the point. The point is this is a room full of presumably very smart people that believe a talking point, or a variation of a talking point (that's underscored, like so much of the right's talking points, with a tinge of code).

So, you're making a comparison of something that was scrubbed POST-election (and widely available and discussed everywhere prior to the election) to Mitt and his campaign's blatant, daily, abject lying DURING the campaign?

As usual, that Moonie rag the Washington Times tried to make something out of nothing - the agenda and details we're available everywhere. If you didn't know Obama's largely centrist agenda prior to voting for him you either were not paying attention to him at all...

...Kyle's actual quote was "...not intended to be a factual statement" uttered after he completely pulled something out of his colon pertaining to abortion during a speech on the floor of the Senate. That was a great Twitter meme for a couple of weeks and made Kyle look like a complete fool (admittedly, not that difficult, but...)

What's great is when these guys DO tell the truth how telling it is - especially lately.

I love how one minute Ann was talking about "love" - and...

Is actually a medical condition, called Obama Derangement Syndrome, or ODS. The AMA is doing studies now.

...but a giant shopping mall slurping up tax dollars is o.k. for Christie.
