Yes, indeed. After all, the DNR is charged with managing and maintaining the natural resouces of MN for the benefit of present and future generations in an integrated plan.

But then along comes "...a new school land trust fund agency would have a priority of raising money.”

It's so much easier to sell off an asset than to maintain and preserve it, no? So any fool can generate more money from these lands - no need for expertise in water resources, forest management, wildlife...

For those readers who haven't yet read this bill, follow Ms. Kahler's link given above and take a peek. Its mandate and constraints provide plenty of wiggle room for the new body to roam around in as it sells off resources.

...I guess these guys didn't get their script. Or perhaps the people on the committee didn't get their script.

Come on, people - this is supposed to be phony propaganda and coordinated drama, leading inexorably to a predetermined conclusion!

How in the heck is Zygi Wilf supposed to get his handout if you folks don't get on the same page? Do you know what it's like paying real estate taxes on a $20 million condo in New York?

...and population is the core problem.

Some think there is no way the earth can support the 7 billion people we have right now in a sustainable way.

Until the dream of eternal growth (people, economies, wealth) as a solution to all problems is abandoned, sustainability will remain marginalized as an interesting but impractical idea.

Does Steve Swiggum have nothing else to keep himself busy with, nothing else to do?

...to these 2 jobs, which makes me suspicious. Why not thank everyone for their assistance and step aside with some grace?

Why is Steve Swiggum so determined to hold both positions?

It certainly does not include the taxpayer - only those who seek to pick the pocket of the taxpayer. That's why it has to be done behind closed doors.

...reminds me of a dog chasing its tail. You know, that dog may get tired or frustrated and take a break for rest. But that same dog soon enough sees that thing out of the corner of his eye that he just must chase, all over again.

Don't change, Republicans!! Don't listen!!

was the Romney camp when they found out that ONLY 58% of Republicans in Michigan voted against him !!

You have to wonder if that entire 58% are going to overcome all obstacles and inconveniences on general election day to go to the polls and champion the cause of Mr. Romney. Especially if the economy has improved further by that time, I should think they would have some mixed feelings.
