MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Tamerlan's change in direction to violence could have been simply as his father explained, or simply as 60 Minutes explained on CBS (either the result of assaulting his girlfriend, or as a result of the FBI inquiry found on his record). In both cases, his loss of U.S. citizenship at the time he wished to join the U.S. Olympic team had to hit him very hard. His younger brother eventually got citizenship no problem, and Tamerlan was, after all, a first class, New England Golden Gloves athlete...
Cynthia, thank you. Apparently international food aid includes boxes of "soybean oil" which I saw on television last week. Is that not a good source for omega-6s (which Western people don't need more of)?
Re: "it was flour that put Minneapolis on the map". Do you happen to know if the flour oligarchy here produced white or whole wheat flour?
Alex and Andy, thank you very much. Sorry I can't make it on the 27th. Here's hoping that maybe the author will publish the lecture on the Web.
You are right, Begley did write "It may be the nation's last, accepted form of prejudice." Which is really something considering that a year ago the U.S. said women earn 75 cents for every dollar earned by a man.
Regarding: "'Shortages were not as severe for jobs in low-skilled production, management and administration, and customer service.' 'Low skilled' and 'management.' Heh."
Dear Mr. Lambert, thank you for reminding me why I come to MinnPost to read your column every day.
Nice article and good news. Mr. Beal, perhaps you could clear up my confusion over whose "icon" the picture is. My only experience with those are point blankets manufactured by Hudson's Bay Company. I did find one blanket in a similar pattern in Google attributed to Faribo.

How does reading a good book compare to watching television? We are having trouble taking this one seriously.
Ms. Perry thank you for writing this article. This topic was on my mind this week and led me to look up Dale Carnegie yesterday. He only lived 66 years.

Heh. I looked up the wrong guy yesterday. This man lived 95 years.
