I wonder if this might not be, at least in part, another attempt to de-fund public radio and public broadcasting? I might be wrong about this, and please (nicely) correct me if I am, but I think local public radio and television stations actually get more money from the state than they do from the feds -- the recent attempt to cut funding for NPR and PBS would have impacted the national organizations' ability to produce content for national distribution more than it would have hit the local...
