MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
By the way.
I wonder if I’m the only one that didn’t miss the irony of the timing of the small government vs. tax and spend rallies.
The Minnesota “Tea party” rally was scheduled to start after 5:00 pm to accommodate the working class crowd, while those that are frozen with the desire to raise their neighbor’s taxes evidently have the leisure to drop by midday on a Monday.
Pity.
I'd like to bear witness to this vast silent "majority", but since I've accepted a...
Even the most cursory inspection will prove your concern for the efficacy of the public school system is well founded, Dane.
One could begin the conversation simply by questioning the outlay of billions of dollars each year, accounting for more than 40% of the state’s entire budget, into a system that sends thousands of (largely racial minority) students out each year to face the uncertain future of a functional illiterate; a system from which 25% of even the “cream of the crop” (ie...
These kinds of messy contretemps are the inevitable result of a worldview that teaches "diversity" is something can be artificially cultivated and is measured, first and foremost, by the color of a person’s skin.
How often, for instance, have we read detailed accountings on lefty blogs and "news sources" of the numbers of racial minorities present at gatherings being presented as proof of some group’s embrace of diversity, or lack thereof?
It seems no discussion among liberals...
Rep. Bachmann has put Barney Frank, and the Democrat party, in the unenviable position of having to publicly defend it's sop to a corrupt special interest partner that is under investigation for widespread, deliberate election fraud in 17 states.
And once again, she leaves her obsessed, leftist foes sputtering impotently in the dust.
Perfect!
David was reaching out to his LowBrau audience, Margaret.
Kind of a shame that this exhibition of simple common sense is exciting news to some, isn't it?
Tom Knisely beat me to it.
It is not a case of conservatives chasing liberal ideas, it is leftists justifying the good time bus ride they propose to stick taxpayers with (to say nothing of the tap dance they are having on traditional American values) by pointing to a historical record owned by classic liberals, ie: conservatives.
It will be interesting to see how flexible MinnPost's comment moderators might suddenly become with your arrival, Michael!
Very timely questions, indeed Mitch.
The other night I was listening to Mark Heaney’s AirAmerica talk show. He was engaging in a genuine meltdown over the idea that the Democrat tax fest might harm the state’s economy by driving away business investment. Heaney’s response was that business people that don't like the Minnesota Democrat party's plan to tax them, and the businesses they manage, more than any other state in the union should not let the door hit them on the way out.
...Keith Ellison has more clout than 99% of Americans, the man is a US Congressman for crying out loud....yet he chose to perform cheap street theater for the 5 O'clock news.
Glossy, lavishly illustrated, bi-folded "constituent updates" to follow.
Be so kind as to count me as singularly unimpressed, and unsurprised.
HuffPo has the best quote from Keith X's lawyer:
"The protesters had hired criminal defense attorney Laura Rhodes to get them out from behind bars. Rhodes seemed pretty confident in her game."
"For those of you anxious about going to jail, I've gotten people out who've killed people," she said."
Perfect.
