WCCO AM needs to do something...They skew older due to the age of that format. Talk, talk, and less news is hurting that station. Overnights,is an example of this station doing things in a cheap way. WCCO has no relevance anymore. WCCO AM needs an overhaul and going to FM might just help. There are no great personalities at that station today. Sid sounds so lost and tired in the mornings, they need to retire his mindless rants. And, does WCCO even advertise what and who they are or want to be...
When the Star Tib counts C.J. as one of my 15 stories, I move on...Enough said!!
The current general manager made it clear to me when he took over and removed Scott Liben as news director, that WCCO was going to take on a cost cutting stance: place less exspensive and qualified journalists on the air (blondes with big chests), fluff passing as news, and use graphics from corporate headquarters to get to a lower bottom line. Cuputa the current news director got the job because he is a "YES" man and sold out when he took the position. In time, the viewers will notice all...
Jason does a great job but, what I love most is to see how his hairline keeps changing. When he anchors he looks like he is growing new hair!!
What happened at WCCO during the storm?? They cut away to golf and never covered the damage live. All the other stations were on the air? Did the advertising sold dictate the news? And, the 10 PM show only covered about 8 minutes of coverage. They ran stupid pre-packaged stories that were of little interest after what will become one of the biggest stories this year. That station has went down hill and the coverage of that storm was down right poor!!
WCCO radio just does not have the abiltiy to hold on to any decent sports rights these days. The Timberwolves deserve a second rate station. WCCO made a huge mistake losing the Twins and Vikings. The Wild going to KFAN is just another example of how WCCO has gone down hill!!
I like the site but, I really think it does not look very attractive. It is just too plain and white. Where is the pizazz?? The comment section is horrible. Give me a little dazzle please!! The site looks just plain boring!!
What I get the biggest kick out of is when the new management talks about the rich history that WCCO radio has each time they make a bid for sports, the governor, and anything else they go after. That history is dead!! The numbers and the demographics don't hold water when it comes to negotiating contracts. And, that is because 'CCO has lost all those exclusives by not holding on to them. You can't convince any team to come back to WCCO radio on the past. You have to negotiate with...
WCCO radio has made some good changes. However, giving up the overnight, cutting the weather department staff, and not having the Twins, Vikings, and now the Gophers will kill them in the long run. WCCO had a long history of being the staple of radio in this market. CBS ownership has turned the Good Neighbor into an average radio station. I grew up and my kids too, knowing that when you needed news, weather, and sports there was only WCCO. My how things have changed.
WCCO radio sure has been hurt with the loss of most of their sports rights. And, they don't seem to be getting any help with Tafoya. I wonder how long she will hold that spot before someone over there makes a change.
