MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
"Don't vote for this amendment" as it is only a republican solution looking for a problem. Voter ID has not been proven in Minnesota. After two recent recount elections and a bipartisan group monitoring the recount, looking for voter fraud, both sides said there was none. It is another nation wide republican folly. The constitution should not be amended to just serve the republicans. The constitution is intended to serve all Minnesotan's. .
The republicans can't work small businesses problems. They put everything into an unidentifiable bundle and call it all the same. It is no wonder, if they are in business and handling their problems that way, they are in trouble. Rep. Eric Paulsen talks about there are 41,662 pages of small business regulations. Obviously all those regulations don't apply to every business. There isn't a business that all 41,662 pages apply to. The republican's are magnificent at making it sound like...
Do the rest of the republicans know he used the word "transparency". The republicans are the folks that are very vigorously fighting to keep transparency out of political giving. If we need transparency anywhere it is in political giving. Paulsen talks about 41,662 pages of regulations, like all 41,662 pages apply to every business. Business is complex, but all 41,662 pages of regulations don't apply to every business. We have already seen what deregulation does. Check your 401K and...
There will be more speak evil, do nothing politicians siding with Bachmann because they don't have anything to help the country move forward. Their only goal is to create "fear and anger" as Rush Limbaugh instructed them to do several months ago. There is no moral core in the republican party operatives right now. Jon Kyl, senator from Arizona, got caught by the media in a bald faced lie. His response, "You can't assume everything I say is factual". The republicans that could be counted...
The republicans waited a long time to see if what Michele claimed had any useful benefit to the republican party. If not they would throw her under the bus. They must think it has some value because Coleman, Kline, and the rest of the republican's calling her out put her under the spare tire rather than the bus. There should have been an unequivocal denouncement demanding she be taken off the intelligence committee. Her continuous outrageous and incendiary claims and the republicans...
Then you don't have to cogitate, you know who you are voting for.
Far more important to me is a party that hasn't changed its talking points since the George W. Bush admin. No way do I want to repeat that era. The republicans are a party that is unwilling to work for everyone because compromise has left their vocabulary. A party that has one answer for everything - NO. They are a party that strives to deregulate those who stole our 401K dollars. A party that continually wants to give tax breaks to the wealthy "job creators" with no evidence they do...
Even if it were a beauty contest in Washington Bachmann's beauty is totally overridden the minute she opens her mouth. Beauty and personality go hand in hand. If the personality isn't there neither is the beauty. Bachmann is a big nothing. I want a smart representative. Beauty doesn't even enter the decision process. Bachmann does not have anything even approaching appealing qualities.
Big money is not given without a big expectation. Essentially the SCOTUS turned our one voter, one vote system, into a one voter, two vote system, for some. Big money gets to vote twice and you know which vote carries the most impact. You can thank big money for 365/24/7 campaigning with no time to do the business of the people they were elected to serve. The biggest corruptor of all is money and we are seeing the impact of it across the political spectrum. Thank you SCOTUS for taking...
This suit will nasty, long, and very interesting for democrats just before the elections in November. If you want to shorten the case tell the republicans it is on their nickel not the public's tax money. The case will be solved in private tomorrow if they have to pay for it. Let's see if they deserve the self imposed title fiscal conservative. It turns out they don't deserve the title because they have already spent about $100,000.00 just lawyering up. They will play the legal game as...
