wow! thanks! will look it up!
britt!!!!!!! hey, man, i just googled you to read a decent piece on the nba draft. you posting one here, on cnnsi.com, somewhere? oh, and i'll check out the audio clips of juana molina. thanks.
i wonder if one of the first and/or effective challenges related to this ruling will come not from third parties like merchandisers or broadcasters, or even from labor/players, but from an owner like, say, jerry jones. he doesn't like the revenue sharing with teams like the vikings and also wants to cut his own merchandising deals. the nfl nixed this in the past. but now he may have the courts on his side.
or, they could have just signed santana long-term a year before he went free agent. would have won the division two years ago, not needed 163 last year, and potentially advanced in the playoffs (who knows how far?) with an ace on the staff one or both years.
at least one of the two years, the twins would have had a good chance of going far had they signed santana long-term.
and he can't be making much more than oswalt.
gerhart is more of an ottis anderson. or an eddie george than he is a riggins or alstott or any, white running back i can think of.
seems fair enough. am sure they can afford a ticket on stubhub or craigslist on their salaries. and am sure they can have a blast just "milling around" all the pubs and patios. no big deal.
thanks for the rundown on the seemingly available options.
i like the mijares/neshek angle, myself. am not sure why gardy couldn't or wouldn't go with a closer-by-committee thing for at least a little while, though - just seems like it would give your bullpen more versatility (not that you wouldn't trade that versatility for having nathan back) if you're not locked into a daily/nightly closer.
then, if someone starts to look the part of a true closer as of, say, a few weeks or...
i love this move. there are so many scenarios where having thome on the bench (should the starters stay healthy and should delmon young revert to his slap-hitting ways) will be more of a plus to the twins than just one at-bat.
if thome pinch-hits before, say, the ninth inning, then the opposing manager has to decide if he's going to use his only lefty reliever at that point (and possibly pulling a starter he'd hoped to go another inning, thus getting to the bullpen earlier) as...
seems more homophobic than anything. in stereotypical straight-guy speak: "dude, he called you out on checking out his hair. you're so gay."
i think (straight) guys are supposed to watch this ad and think "ha ha, he totally called that reporter gay." (and thus associate head-and-shoulders with what tough guys are cool with using - as in, "it doesn't make me less tough that i have dandruff shampoo in my shower"). but there's nothing homoerotic about it - calling other guys "gay" as...
the Daily obviously wasn't concerned mainly about just bringing these issues to the athletic department's attention and then "letting the process play out". Otherwise, why the sensational cover with giant, color photos of the head coach and three assistant/former coaches?
There is no "smoking gun" in the article. Yes, it's interesting that the people involved with the wrestling team are so heavily involved in off campus housing (one, anecdotal example of this elsewhere from off the...
