Please Mr. Flanagan, don't defame public employee's. Ms. Kahn is an elected official, not a bureaucrat.

Reductions in staff levels and changing regulations as we have seen or attempted in the past 5-10 years makes we wonder if I can be assured that sound practices and protections will be in place. If that were the case why was the Polymet environmental impact statement approved by the state and then rejected by the EPA? What about the attempt to raise the limit of allowable sulfides without any scientific evidence that the increase limit was sound?

Jobs and economic growth are...

Both Federal and Minnesota law prohibit persons who have been committed as mentally ill from possessing any firearm. See Minn. Stat. §624.713 Subd. 1(c). Transfer of firearms to a person who is mentally ill is also illegal. §18 U.S.C. 922 (d). Persons who have been prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a commitment can petition to have their rights restored. See Minn. Stat. §624.713 Subd. 4. Sheriff's are required to determine if a person has been civilly committed as required by...

I sort of remember that when the land was purchased there was something about the city manager being an executor of the estate of the seller. There were some reports about that in the White Bear Press. I think that person eventually recused himself from one or the other position but it was pretty much a done deal by then. On top of it according to a recent report in the Pioneer Press another official involved in developing the project was hired to manage it.

If I am correct then...

They can't be too serious about wanting new customers. I received a mailing offering the Sunday paper for 50 cents a week and it had an on-line address to order it. I have tried to use that for over a week and it doesn't get you where you want to go. If you call to order you're put on hold - 2-5 minutes was what I heard just now. You'd think they'd staff the subscription lines a bit better.

Perhaps I miss the point but the article seems to be more about Mr. Jungbauer’s claims regarding his training and profession than about the existence or not of global warming.

I find the examination like this of a political figure to be refreshing and informative.

For those who think it’s a liberal plot to pants ‘the other side’ consider that Mr. Shelby could easily be sharpening his pencil on the hide of someone on the other side of the isle.

Mr. Jungbauer isn’t the...

He is a small minded bully who likes to swagger around the Capital and try and impress everyone with his vast experience in law enforcement. His universe is about 3 feet around and there's no doubt that he's at the center. He is led around by the nose like a lamb by far right groups and is lack of respect for anyone who even begins to disagree is legendary. Tony Cornish deserves to be placed in a Lucite box and sent out to Idaho where they may find a use for him and break it open.

It would be nice if they would only put pieces up for a limited period of time. They run stuff that is days, sometimes weeks old, on the website. When I read today's paper I don't have to page through all of last week's to get what I want. If they're going to charge for it they should only run new material.

"Minnesota’s two prophets — Stinson and Gillaspy — were appropriately Minnesotan in stressing the strength of the state’s accomplishments."

I wonder whether the "Minnesota Miracle" is still alive and well. I doubt that we can continue to tout the strength of the "state's accomplishments" if we look at current results. We are slipping in some of the categories such as graduation rates and more aptly compared to placed like Arkansas these days.

Great article that no one at the...

The dollar costs to the judicial system are staggering if you look at the amount of time spent waiting for a public defender. Judges, clerks, bailiffs, jurors, witnesses and prosecutors all have to wait for the lawyer to show up and hope that when he or she does that they don't have to be three other places to deal with other cases. I am not criticizing the public defenders, merely pointing out that it is foolishly shortsighted to knock that wheel off the cart. System costs and...
