Scott, wouldn't it be swell if the car crowd paid for the healthcare costs and environmental consequences that stem from their driving? Naw, that would be the right thing to do. Driving is totally cool unless you have to pay for its real costs. Pity. Let the spending continue!

Wealthy individuals want to be isolated from the poor, so that they can ignore the effects of the policies that have benefited them. I understand that yelling profanities at a child doesn't make for good parenting. I realize your frustration, but someone who has wealth but never has time for his/her child is not a good parent either. Those aren't equivalents but in both cases, the results usually manifest in destructive ways later in life.

The article is wonderful and the comments it has elicited are reflective of this. I think green space is crucial, however as has been stated the park by the library must be more than grass. I think it would be wonderful to have small kitchen restaurants/stands serving local food, have local musicians perform music for tips, and have temporary pre-fab structures with artists (like the art shanties on Medicine like) with cycling exhibitions.
