I think their is a lesson to be learned here. "Fool me once............uh, uh..... You can't get fooled again!"

First a nazi youth and then your typical bishop playing a shell game with pedophile priests. Once a rat always a rat I say. Infallible? This pope has never acknowledged that an epidemic of pedophilia among the priesthood has the potential to destroy the church. What else can be assumed when a child abuser is simply moved from one parish to another just to make it convenient for the church? The whole scandal is an abomination. Where does that leave God and the children the church has...

Posted on 03/15/10 at 08:58 pm in response to If a health care bill passes: Which party benefits?

Of course it will benefit the democrats. This bill is health insurance reform and all of us are getting ripped off in one way or another by health insurance companies. When the reform is passed and we can change insurance without penalty of pre-existing conditions or we can't be dropped because we get an expensive sickness we'll never be able to go back to the old rules. The idiots who think this is a government takeover of health care or socialized medicine will realize their health care...

Hey Thomas, I'm not sure you can say that more people snowmobile than x-country ski. Your absurd comparison that snowmaking does not occur on snowmobile trails is irrelevant. Besides a small acreage of ski trails can keep hundreds of skiers treking all day while it takes many miles of snowmobile trails to keep the same number of participants even mildly amused. Its also nice that in an urban area you wouldn't even know those same skiers were in the park if you didn't see them. Those same...

Eric, there's a very simple way to protect US sugar production. It's called a tariff and I'll bet Peterson could engineer that pretty easily. All the countries of the world use them except the US. China particularly. Due to corporate greed, from Clinton to Obama, their is virtually no political interest in helping the US produce anything.

If the US normalized relations with Cuba the Communist government would dissolve in less than ten years. Everything said about Cuba's human rights abuses can be said of China a billion times over. The US government's Cuban policy has been an absolute disaster since Castro came to power achieving the opposite of its desired effect. Time to change course don't you think?

Posted on 03/11/10 at 08:54 pm in response to Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric Magnuson stepping down

If Magnuson wants to resign he probably thinks it best to allow Pawlenty to appoint a judge to his liking. There's no guarantee a republican will be there next January to pick a candidate with acceptable conservative pedigree. You can be sure Pawlenty didn't appoint Magnuson because he was a liberal or an independent thinker. But as these things go Magnuson turned out to be an impartial judge and a vocal advocate for the state court system. My guess is he's still a conservative and wants...

It seems to me the innovative cost saving approach is to simply give less money to HCMC and make them continue to do the same work. They'll cut other areas and lay some people off. Every department in that hospital has suffered deep cuts in the name of Matt Dean efficiency. I don't see this as innovative or efficient.

Actually, Brian, the field agents in the CIA had much of the information and intelligence correct. It was the cherry picking of the intelligence by Bush, Cheney that accounted for the maassaged conclusions to support the presence of WMD's. It was critical for the Bush Administration to maintain the CIA got it wrong to provide cover for Cheney's obvious dishonest interpretations. Ironically, it wasn't ever necessary to revamp the CIA since it actually collected good data. The...

Yeah, Brian, Pawlenty has this thing for sex offenders and prisons. Spare no expense in the incarceration of evil. He also wants to make sure he has room to house all of the convicted sex offenders to avoid another rape and murder or the molestation of nursing home residents. He's certainly not ever going to let another one out after the cost saving tragedies he caused earlier in his administration.
