Posted on 05/08/13 at 10:41 am in response to Senate income tax increase doesn’t hit the middle class

Many small business owners are facing significant tax increases that will force them to lay off workers and or raise their prices, both of which cost the middle class. Nobody completely escapes tax increases. It is not just income taxes, the middle class will be spending more for many things as well as other tax increases that impact everyone is some way.

There is no jihad against American Muslims, it simple does not exist. Keith is evidence of that, because he is an outspoken Muslim and was elected to office, which in itself shows that his religion was not a disadvantage. Americans in general are more color blind and religiously neutral than the media seems to think or portray them as. A global jihad does exist and I think American's basic lack of fear and openness is weakening the impact in this country. We should treat all criminal...

Posted on 04/23/13 at 11:01 am in response to Minnesota needs a bold framework to change its energy picture

More taxes on energy will not stop energy usage, they will only cost consumers more money. Taxing companies for energy usage also costs taxpayers more money. The only things that will work are personal responsibility and accountability. That applies to consumers and politicians. Politicians can't just throw money at problems and we need to deal with today's real problems, before we make assumptions that the world is going to be hotter hundreds of years in the future, when we can't predict...

It reads, the right of the "people" to keep and bear Arms. Please keep in mind the original hierarchy had the People at the top, then the State and the Federal government at the bottom of the power pyramid. The rights of the State and Federal government came from the people, not the other way around. Today's big government believes it has the right to take away the rights of the people, just like dictators, Communists, Socialists, Marxists, etc.

Power struggles have always existed and always will. One of the basic concepts the founders tried to implement with the constitution and the Bill of Rights, was to protect the people from a potential oppressive government in the future. In effect to create a balance of power that favored the individual and the States, in the event that the Federal government became oppressive. The right to protect yourself and your family only has meaning, if you have the means to protect yourself.

The easiest way to take over a country is by taking over the election process. Do we really get to choose who we elect? Under the current two party system, the choices are often bad and worse.

They wanted to oppress minorities. Taking away some peoples right, doesn't give other people more rights, it just gives the government more control and gives everyone less rights. I've read that there are more guns in the USA than people, so lets assume that there are over 100 million gun owners, that are law bidding citizens that are not a threat to anyone. Why should gun owners be a privileged class? If some people have the right to own guns, shouldn't anyone, that is not a threat to...

Americans have more personal freedoms than other nations. We should and do protect and cherish those freedoms. Personal freedoms include the right to own property and protect ourselves and our families. The government technically doesn't own anything and doesn't produce anything, it is just a shared expense.

Any violence sucks. On Monday bombs killed Americans and there are hundreds of ways to make bombs from hundreds of materials, many of which are readily available things we use day to day. Banning guns will not stop violence and the government can not stop violence. Ask any police officer is they can protect you against violence in your own home or in public. You can even make your a basic gun with parts you can buy at the hardware store. The odds of a gun owner harming anyone are much lower...

Posted on 04/15/13 at 01:06 pm in response to St. Paul Republicans to meet and consider challenge in mayor's race

Conservatives would be better served by moving out of DFL controlled cities. The Republicans only get elected to fix economic messes created by Democrats. As long as the cities of Mpls and St Paul can keep functioning, they will continue to elect Democrats, until they totally fail like Detroit did. Detroit has finally elected Republicans to fix the problems, so at least there is a chance they may recover now.
