Young poets to make us proud at Poetry Out Loud

Don’t get too giddy, but I’m about to herald
A rhyme-time spectacular at the Fitzgerald.

The State Arts Board presents, for our listening pleasure
A poetry fest, with words counted by measure.

Actually, words needn’t rhyme or be haiku
But students can try, if they really would like to.

It’s for students in classes across the whole country,
But anyone can listen and even get in free.

It seems a resurgence of poems with the in-crowd
Has led to this program called “Poetry Out Loud.”

(I must have slept through this poetic rebound
Or else I’m not hard-wired to be that profound.)

It happens March 9th; 9:30 a.m. is the time range
At St. Paul’s Fitz Theatre, 10 East Exchange.

I hope folks show up, so it’s not like a morgue
Learn more about it at poetryoutloud.org.

Thanks for plugging this cool event. Did you folks have someone there? Anyone planning a write-up now that it’s happened?
