The Guthrie Theater has more than its Tony-Kushner-palooza on tap right now. The hardworking students in the acting training program the company runs with the University of Minnesota will get their moments in the sun – or at least, in the Guthrie’s Dowling Studio – over the next two weeks.
The pieces, collectively titled “New Talent, New Plays: The Class of 2009,” will be presented in repertoire starting Friday and running through April 26.
A new Guthrie commission, “What May Fall,” centers on the experiences of nine ordinary Minnesotans who witness a man fall from the IDS Tower. In Vincent Delaney’s “Writer 1272,” the performers become prospective students who try to live up to the lives they described in their college application essays. The new graduates also will present “Snapshots,” which brings together short pieces that highlight the work the performers have done the program.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. For additional information, call 612-377-2224 or visit online.
