Circus Juventas, the St. Paul school dedicated to training young performers in the circus arts, celebrates its 15th anniversary with a special presentation drawn from ancient Chinese legends.

The show, “Yulong: The Jade Dragon,” features the efforts of the school’s advanced students and three guest artists from Taiwan. The show opens Friday and runs through Aug. 16. It features traditional Chinese circus acts, choreography and costumes developed in collaboration with the Chinese American Association of Minnesota. The traditional acts, derived from the 2,500-year old Chinese acrobatic and circus tradition, include hoop diving, Chinese poles and the “bike for ten.”

“Yulong: The Jade Dragon” runs July 31-Aug. 16 at the Circus Juventas Big Top, 1270 Montreal Ave. in St. Paul. A show schedule is available here. Tickets are $12.50 to $25, and are available through UptownTix, 651-209-6799 in the Twin Cities or 1-888-279-0089 toll free; or by calling the Circus Juventas box office, 651-699-8229.
