Hennepin County has an exhibit of 100 pairs of shoes worn by residents over the years — from 1840 to the present — on display at the downtown government center.

All the shoes were worn by people who lived or worked in the county, and include examples from the Civil War era, the Depression, World War II and even the I-35W bridge collapse.

You can see the exhibit Monday through Friday through Aug. 31,  from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Hennepin Gallery on the A Level of the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 S. 6th St., Minneapolis. There is no charge. It’s sponsored by the Hennepin History Museum.
