Author and radio host Garrison Keillor is recovering today at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester after suffering a  minor stroke.

Mayo Clinic official Karl Oestreich said: “He is up and moving around, speaking sensibly, working at a laptop, and it’s expected he’ll be released on Friday.”

MPR reports that Keillor sent an e-mail statement saying when he began feeling ill Sunday morning he drove himself to United Hospital in St. Paul, before being transferred to Mayo “because they know so much more about me down here.”

He’d performed Friday night at the Minnesota State Fair.
