Judy Garland cabaret opens Friday in St. Paul

Judy Garland songs like “The Trolley Song,” “You Made Me Love You” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” will highlight the program this weekend when Alicia Renee channels the singer in “Judy Garland: Born in a Trunk” at the Cabaret Theater at Camp Bar in St. Paul.

Pianist Paul Kovacovic will accompany her in the show produced by the Actors Theater of Minnesota.

The producers say:

“What is so unique about this talented singer is that she manages to effortlessly capture the phrasing and nuance of Miss Garland’s performances, while still making them seem her own. Come with this unlikely Judy fan as she revisits some of the songs that made Judy Garland an icon.”

“Judy Garland: Born in a Trunk,” Cabaret Theater at Camp Bar, 490 N. Robert St., St. Paul. The show runs weekends through Nov. 14, on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. There’s one matinee, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $19 and $10.
