Garrison Keillor to read from his new Christmas book Dec. 1

After the holiday shopping season gets off to a frantic start this weekend, Garrison Keillor will ofter some respite and thoughts about the real meaning of the season with a reading from his new book “A Christmas Blizzard” on Tuesday.

The book’s summary:

A wealthy and depressed man bound for Christmas in Hawaii is abruptly summoned home to North Dakota. He arrives just in time to be trapped there by a blizzard. During his stay, he reaches an epiphany worthy of the season and resolves to simplify his life.

The Dec. 1 reading starts at 7:30 p.m. and is at the Virginia Street Swedenborgian Church, 170 Virginia St., St. Paul. It’s free, and a book signing will follow.
