Mary McColl new head of Minnesota Shubert Center

Mary McColl, a veteran of the Ordway Center and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, has been named the new executive director of the Minnesota Shubert Center, the dance performance and education center that is building a new facility in downtown Minneapolis.

She succeeds Colin Hamilton, who will move on to national projects as vice president at Artspace Projects, the nonprofit development company that has managed the Shubert.

McColl worked for 20 years at the Ordway, ending as vice president and general manager from 2001 to 2005. She was vice president for operations at the SPCO from 2005 to 2007, then went to New York City as labor relations director for the Broadway League.

Construction on the new facility began two weeks ago on Hennepin Avenue.

I hope she does a good job. However, I’d be a little nervous about someone who’s every job appointment appears to get shorter and shorter.

By the way, Ms. McColl worked for the SPCO until the very end of 2008, not 2007 as the article states.
