Rose Ensemble offers 1-day incentive for ‘Christmas in Elizabethan England’ concerts

It’s an eight-hour sale!

On Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. you can get 50 percent off tickets to next week’s “Christmas in Elizabethan England” concerts by the Rose Ensemble, the highly touted chamber choral group from St. Paul.

But there’s more! If you call during the sale hours, you can also book discount tickets – 50 percent off! – for the February “Voices of Venice & Rome” concerts that the Rose Ensemble is presenting with Voces8, a visiting vocal group from London.

But back to next week’s Christmas concerts, which focus on Tudor-era Christmas music, including works by Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons and others. Expect small-group a cappella singing, or vocal music accompanied by lute and viola da gamba. You can go here to listen to some excerpts and check concert dates for both the Christmas and February concerts. The performances next week are in Superior, Wis.; St. Paul; Minneapolis; and Wayzata.

And speaking of viola da gamba, the discount offer also comes with strings. A limited number of tickets are available, for instance, and you can’t place your order online. The offer also doesn’t apply to one of the February concerts. Call 651-225-4340. Hurry, hurry, hurry!
