Rosy Simas is a somewhat under-the-radar choreographer whose work nonetheless packs some serious punch. With riveting music, intriguing visuals and intelligent choreography, she tackles patriotism and politics, embodied knowledge and human interaction.

Next week Rose Simas Danse will show several works-in-progress. Titled “winter/hiver,” the program invites audience response. The 60-minutes show includes two group pieces, and three solos still in the idea stage. To see excerpts of past work, go here

While Simas includes many local dancers in these works, performers in particular to watch include Denise Gagner, Jennifer Mack, Sharon Picasso, Erin Drummond and Simas herself.

“winter/hiver,” Rosy Simas Danse. 8 p.m. Dec 7-9. New California Gallery, 2205 California Street NE, Minneapolis. Tickets $8-$10.
