Two Minnesotans selected as YoungArts finalists

Two Minnesota students are among 143 finalists in the national YoungArts student competition.

Now Reed Tetzloff of Bloomington, a finalist in music, and Eric Weiman of Edina, a finalist in theater, will participate in the YoungArts Week next month in Miami.

All the finalists are 17 or 18, and are eligible for cash awards, master classes by world-renowned artists, performances and exhibitions.

Students were selected in the categories of cinematic arts, dance, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing.

They’re now also eligible to be selected 2010 Presidential Scholars in the Arts, given at the White House and offering the opportunity to perform at the Kennedy Center and exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.
