Tickets for March 5 Stephen Sondheim talk go on sale Friday

Famed composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim will talk about his 50-plus years as a Broadway creator in the first of the Hennepin Theatre Trust’s latest “Living Legends” series at 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the State Theatre.

Famed composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim will talk about his 50-plus years as a Broadway creator in the first of the Hennepin Theatre Trust’s latest “Living Legends” series at 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the State Theatre. Tickets for this one-time event go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

The evening with Sondheim will be hosted by the Star Tribune’s theater critic tag team, Rohan Preston and Graydon Royce. Sondheim, known for his complex scores and often-difficult subject matter, first rose to fame with his lyrics to “West Side Story.” From there, his body of work has included shows like like “Gypsy,” “A Little Night Music,” “Follies,” “Company,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Passion.”
