Serious tango fans — locally and from around the country — will dance the night away in Minneapolis this weekend during the Heartland Tango Festival.
Classes, social dances and a dinner/dance are all on the schedule of events, Thursday through Sunday. Most events are at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, near Loring Park.
Beginners are welcome — there’s a class called “From Zero to Tango in 90 Minutes.”
Organizers promise classes during the day and dancing all night. Literally. They say some “milongas” or tango social dances, will run to 3, 4 or 5 a.m. — like milongas in Buenos Aires.
It’s a tango convention of sorts, with vendors, too. Costs for attending are:
- GOLD PASS:$245, student $185 — includes everything: full pass plus dinner/ show
- FULL PASS:$200, student $135 — includes all classes, milongas, practicas
- MILONGA PASS: $65, student $45 — includes all milongas and practicas
