Finals of the 2010 National Poetry Slam will be Saturday night at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.

Hundreds of performance poets on 76 teams began competition around town yesterday, leading to the finals on Saturday when four teams will face off for the championship.

The reigning champs from last year’s event are the “Soap Boxing” Slam Team from St. Paul.

Tickets for the finals at 8 p.m. Saturday are $25 and are available now at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium Box Office, Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or online.

Local rapper P.O.S. will kick off the festivities.
