Chank Diesel, well-known for his creative type fonts, is leading a team in creating murals on the Creative Lighting building near the Snelling Av. exit from I-94 in St. Paul.
Diesel had created a mural on the store in 2002, but it was fading, so he’s doing it again.
The plan is for Diesel, working with other artists and volunteers, to decorate the building on three sides: one on the north side to identify the business; a public-service message supporting bike commuting on the east side, and on the south side, facing the railroad tracks, a colorful mural that will be visible to passengers on the daily Amtrak route.
A blog by Judy Grundstrom promises to follow the mural’s creation over the next few days.
