Joking Envelope gets blue with ‘Deadwood’

Hot off the heels of “The Damn Audition,” Joking Envelope presents “Deadwood: The Last Bleeping Episode,” which opens Friday at the Bryant-Lake Bowl.

Based on the foul-mouthed, award-winning and famously incomplete television drama, the play crafted by Tom Poole and Joseph Scrimshaw tells what happens when the denizens of Deadwood come up against their greatest foe: the Yellow Pages man.

Scrimshaw stars as Al Swearengen, with Clarence Wethern, Phillip Low and Jen Scott as the rest of the characters. The production is a benefit for Joking Envelope’s 2010-2011 season.

“Deadwood: The Last Bleeping Episode” productions are at 7 p.m. Sept. 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 at the Bryant-Lake Bowl Cabaret Theater, 810 W. Lake St., Minneapolis. Tickets are $15, or $13 with a Minnesota Fringe Festival button. For tickets, call 612-825-8949 or visit online.
