Theatre Pro Rata heads to the Bard for its latest production, “The Taming of the Shrew,” opening this weekend at the Gremlin Theatre in St. Paul.

The story centers on Kate, the “shrew” who needs to marry before her younger, more socially acceptable sister can wed. A roguish bachelor takes up the task, but will he be equal to the smart and cunning Kate?

The cast includes Amber Bjork (Kate), Grant Henderson (Petruchio), MaryLynn Mennicke (Bianca) and Ryan Henderson (Lucentio). Carin Bratlie, Pro Rata’s artistic director, will direct the production.

“The Taming of the Shrew” runs Friday through Sept. 26 at the Gremlin Theatre, 2400 University Ave., St. Paul. Tickets are on a sliding scale, from $11 to $41. For information and tickets, call (612) 874-9321, email info@theatreprorata.org or visit online.
