McKnight choreographers to talk about making dances

Every year, the Southern Theater, in collaboration with the McKnight Foundation, awards three fellowships of $25,000 to local choreographers. What do they do with all of that cold, hard cash?

Tonight the 2010 winners of the McKnight Artist Fellowships for Choreographers will reveal all:
Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstard of The BodyCartography Project;
Penelope Freeh, who has long danced with James Sewell Ballet as well as making her own work; and experimental movement artist Megan Mayer.

During a panel discussion facilities by Mary Ellen Childs, the program’s director, the choreographers will show excerpts of their work, and discuss their dance-making processes, their aesthetic points of view and their emerging careers as movement artists.

McKnight Fellowship: Meet the Choreographers. 7:30-8:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4. Southern Theater, Minneapolis. Free.
