Dorie Carlson, whose grandfather was one of the first crewmen stationed at the North Superior Coast Guard Station, is a retired Minnesota history teacher from Cook County Middle School. She is a volunteer museum assistant at the Minnesota Historical Society and does research for the Cook County Historical Society.
