While women today earn about 60 percent of all bachelor’s degrees, they also make up nearly half of the students in the key areas of law, medicine and business.
An engaged, informed citizenry assures the continuation of our democracy. So does an understanding of serious music, arts and letters.
To quote a character in one of Ernest Lehman’s short stories: “He brung happiness to millions.” No minor accomplishment that, and a notable legacy.
Though nearly everyone is hardwired to appreciate quips and stories, my delight in anecdote awareness sprouted concomitantly with the habit of eavesdropping in public spaces.
The Padded Cell was packed, and Dan and I agonized over what to include and exclude from our sets. Should we use humor? Will people even want to laugh?
