False alarm, then a nice milestone

Earlier this week, I thought we’d reached a nice milestone — 100 private book clubs registered with BCC, in addition to the 112 open-to-the-public clubs listed in our directory.

But it was a false alarm.

The 100th club to register was not eligible — it was the Rutgers University book club of New York City. The club founder didn’t realize that BCC was just for Minnesota clubs, but was kind enough to email us when she figured out her mistake.

It was disappointing to have to toss Rutgers, especially when her email said she is “always looking for ways to connect to other book clubs across the country.”

But rules are rules. Sorry, Barbara.

Luckily, our 100th Minnesota club registered yesterday morning.

Goodbye, Rutgers. Hello, The Grand Book Club.

Here’s to the next 100.
