The Loft Literary Center will celebrate poets, poetry and brevity with its upcoming Short Poem Week, July 11-15.
During that week, The Writers’ Block — a blog for writers featuring commentary, advice, and tips on all things literary — will share some of the best resources for finding short poems, elucidate the value of short poetry, and discuss practical ways to approach writing a short poem.
The Loft will also publish a few short poems on The Writers’ Block on Thursday, July 14, and welcomes submissions for consideration.
Submission guidelines: Email your short poem — no more than eight lines — and a one-sentence bio to Chris Jones at cjones [at] loft [dot] org by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011. Extra consideration will be given to tweetable poems (140 characters or fewer).
