Judith Yates Borger launches new Skeeter Hughes mystery on Wednesday, Aug. 24

On August 24, Once Upon a Crime booksellers will host a reception to celebrate the a launch of Judith Yates Borger’s chilling new mystery, “Whose Hand?,” (Nodin Press) the sequel to the 2009 release, “Where’s Billie?” (Nodin).

Although “Whose Hand?” was released in e-book format in the fall of 2010, the paperback edition comes out August 15, 2011.

"Whose Hand?" by Judith Yates Borger

In “Whose Hand?,” reporter Skeeter Hughes sets off on a wild search for the deceased owner of a hand that was pulled from Lake Harriet — and lost back to the depths — by a Vietnam vet out ice-fishing the previous fall.

Skeeter narrows her list of possible victims to three people: Amber Thomas, a runaway with a scholarship waiting for her; Yuri Yudeshenka, a furrier and a holocaust survivor who emigrated from the former U.S.S.R.; and Pace Palmer, a 30-ish research director for a medical device company.

Despite a career in jeopardy, a husband on the lam and the 24/7 job of mother, Hughes is compelled to find the answer to whose hand?

According to Publisher’s Weekly, “Whose Hand?” is a diverting “regional mystery with appeal to readers beyond the Twin Cities.”
