"The Season Never Ends" by Don Shelby

On Saturday, Apr. 14, local broadcasting icon Don Shelby will appear at the Rum River Library in Anoka to discuss “The Season Never Ends,” his new collection of stories about the game of basketball.

Widely considered one of the best and most decorated local news anchors in the country, Shelby retired from daily reporting and anchoring in 2010, after 45 years in the industry.

During his broadcasting career, Shelby won three National Emmys, two George Foster Peabody Awards, the Society of Professional Journalists’ National Distinguished Service Award and the International Radio and Television News Directors Association’s First Place honors for International Investigative Reporting, among others.

“The Season Never Ends: Wins, Losses, and Wisdom of the Court,” is a compilation of 20 years worth of stories about pivotal and inspiring basket ball games, told with the grace and humor of a long-time basketball, and storytelling, veteran.
