From the sports desk: Vegas pays off before World Series ends

As a former bettor, I love this story: If you’re holding a ticket on the Rays, you’re already a loser at several Vegas sports books. Even though Game Five is suspended with the score tied 2-2 and the Phillies leading three games to one, ESPN notes:

“According to Nevada Gaming Commission rules the final score of an official baseball game, for betting purposes, is determined by reverting to the last completed inning, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. And the Phillies led Game 5, 2-1, after five completed innings.”

The MGM properties are bucking the rule and await the true Series outcome; we’ll see how the commission responds to that.
