Graphical interlude: Great alt-weekly election cover

I love a great graphic, and plan to pepper this blog with them when I need a journalistic pick-me-up.

Some of you may be dimly aware that the Chicago Reader stirred up a hornet’s nest with a less-than-celebratory cover following Barack Obama’s election:

It makes the president-elect’s hometown alt-paper seem so … snarky. And needless to say, O-lovin’ readers were shocked, and didn’t enjoy the buzzkill. Sigh.

But until a day or so ago, I hadn’t seen the Reader’s alternative what-if-McCain-wins cover.

If nothing else, it proves the paper was bipartisan in its apprehension:
