How long before the Strib or PiPress sends a memo like this?

Just a reminder that before one daily paper goes out of business, and even before there’s a Joint Operating Agreement, neighboring competitors can “explore ways to collaborate in a few targeted areas of newsgathering.”

The Dallas and Ft. Worth papers are as proximate as our two dailies here, and like our local rags, have different owners.

By the way, Florida’s Miami Herald and St. Petersburg Times recently announced a joint Capitol bureau. They are also owned by different companies, but don’t compete in the same local markets. How long before we see Minnesota papers do this?
