Seems wildly speculative… Log in to Reply Submitted by John Olson on 11/04/2008 - 10:33 pm. Hmmm…..the data streaming on NBC has Bachmann ahead…39 percent of precincts reporting. In all fairness, gents, it wasn’t Brauer calling the race in the 6th against Bachmann, but him merely passed on Mary Lahammer’s wildly premature and, it would by now appear, utterly erroneous call on her blog. Lahammer apparently hits the hay early on election nights and never got around to correcting it. But that’s not Brauer’s fault. Log in to Reply Submitted by Jason DeRusha on 11/05/2008 - 07:51 am. Unless Mary changed what she wrote originally, all her blog said was: “One GOP party insider predicted that Erik Paulsen will win against Ashwin Madia and Michele Bachmann will lose to El Tinklenberg.” That doesn’t sound as dramatic as David’s head here: “Bachmann loses.” More accurate: “KTCA’s Lahammer: One GOP insider says Bachmann loses” Log in to Reply Submitted by David Brauer on 11/05/2008 - 09:02 am. Jim, thanks for the defense (thankfully I attributed) but Jason also has it right: Mary was onpassing a poll-closing prediction that I melodramatically turned into a headline certainty. Sometimes, going for headline impact can go too far. Lesson (re)learned. My apologies to readers and to Mary. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
