Since I wrote last month that Anne Hutchinson was losing her KSTP sports job, I should note she’s “back” as a weekend sports anchor. I’ll let Channel 5 executive sports producer Steve Johnson’s memo explain the quote marks:

I am pleased to announce that Anne Hutchinson will be staying at 5 Eyewitness News as the Weekend Sports Anchor. Anne will be on a minimum of a 25 hour work week, and we will be announcing a fill-in #3 in the very near future.
Please join me in welcoming Anne back to the staff, even though she never left!
Regards,
Steve
Meanwhile, over at Channel 4, reporter Liz Collin has also ascended to weekend anchor. Before reprinting the gushiness from her boss, Scott Libin, I recommend this video of Collin and other WCCOers in the wild, courtesy of Jason DeRusha.
OK, here’s the memo:
I don’t remember the last time I saw somebody have the kind of immediate impact Liz Collin has had on our newsroom and our newscasts. Within days of her debut on our air as a part-time reporter last June, people from around the station stopped by to tell me how impressed they were with her work. Viewers seemed to share that impression.

I felt the same way, and had the opportunity to make her a full-time employee in August.
In fact, I have liked Liz’ work more and more over time, as she has reported, anchored and even produced newscasts. That’s why today I’m truly happy to announce her promotion to the weekend anchor job recently vacated by Terri Gruca. Liz will join Dennis Douda and the rest of the weekend team Saturday, January 31.
As you may know, Liz grew up watching WCCO in her hometown of Worthington, Minnesota, where her family tunes in regularly to this day. She has worked in television news at KDLT-TV, in Sioux Falls; KWCH-TV, in Wichita; and WHP-TV, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
As I said when Liz went full-time, she is a rock-solid reporter and accomplished anchor who shows curiosity, intellect, energy and enterprise — exactly what I want to see in every journalist, and what I believe viewers appreciate on the air.
Please join me in congratulating Liz.
