Apropos Sunday’s piece on the goofy “Thing 1 and Thing 2 ad” banded between an Obama photo and story in the Strib, a design friend sent me a British example that probably didn’t make readers or the advertiser happy:

By the way, I’m trying to find out if Target paid the full-page price for the “Thing” ad. If so, that meant two-thirds of the page was available for stories that wouldn’t otherwise have been, had the whole page been swallowed.

Since the Strib’s business side is not always quick about calling me back, informed moles inside 425 Portland should email dbrauer [at] minnpost.com.

[Hat tip for the ad scan: Joey Devilla.]
