The 35W bridge takes a star turn Tuesday in New York Times science reporter Henry Fountain’s surprisingly fascinating story on concrete.

The feature focuses on the imaginative new chemical mixes for the ancient substance — many designed to make concrete less greenhouse-gassy. (Notes Fountain, “The manufacturing of Portland cement is responsible for about 5 percent of human-caused emissions of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.”)

The Times goes all multimedia on the various lower-CO2 recipes used in our bridge; there’s also a podcast on the story page.

  1. David, You should spend some time researching how often the New York Times writes stories about Minnesota vs. other places.
