Eleanor Mondale’s brain cancer returns

Sad news from WCCO radio: the mid-morning host must fight off cancer yet again, and she will take disability leave from her 9 a.m.-noon show.

Sad news from WCCO radio: mid-morning host Eleanor Mondale’s brain cancer has returned, and she will take disability leave from her 9 a.m.-noon with Susie Jones.

Typical feistiness from the once-wild child on Mondale’s WCCO show page:

I think the second most horrible words to hear after “You have brain cancer” are “The cancer is back”…. but it’s happened. Again. My fantastic Dr. at the Mayo Clinic — Dr. Joon Uhm — has prescribed a new treatment, and I am hoping, this time, that “third time is a charm.” I am tired of this crap! I have decided to take disability leave while I am receiving treatment so my body can be strong and fight the disease with more gusto. I just don’t have the energy to “muscle through it” this time.

I know everyone in town is rooting for Eleanor to triumph yet again, and my best wishes to her and the Mondale/Poling families. And also to the WCCO family, which has been under a ton of financial stress and now must deal with heartache.
