Tom Tomorrow back in City Pages soon?

Let’s call it a comic green shoot: Tom Tomorrow’s excellent, lacerating look at politics, “This Modern World,” has been picked up by the Village Voice after the alt-weekly dropped it for financial reasons in January. Will Sparky the Penguin return to Voice sibling City Pages?

Editor Kevin Hoffman says not … yet: “As of this quarter, he’s not in CP, but we’re hoping to bring him back soon — his return to the Voice is a positive sign in that direction.”

The fourth quarter begins Oct. 1. Do the right thing, folks.

This might — MIGHT — actually get me to go back to reading CP again. Losing Tom Tomorrow was a big blow, but losing Dara and replacing her with that woman from the yuppie POS magazine (yes, the one Dara went to) was the last straw.

Three cheers to K-Hoff for trying to bring back the beloved Tom Tomorrow strip to CP. I hope you are successful.

God forbid that some CP bean counter dumps Savage Love…. Editorial content has been shaky, the humor is usually forced or exploitive, and LTEs are signed by screen monikers instead of identifiable human names. What’s to love there anymore except the restaurant ads? Tom Tomorrow is over at Salon.com, thank you very much.
