AM1500 fired Tommy Mischke one year ago Saturday. That means his non-compete is up, and he can work on local over-the-air radio again.
Don’t know if he will — he’s always seemed pleased with his City Pages relationship — but he can.
Of course, the industry has only become more de-monetized in the past 12 months.
Have you ever seen numbers on how many listeners he gets for In the Stream? I’m a daily listener via podcast and it has been interesting to hear him evolve over the past year but I often wonder if he feels like he is talking to nobody. I’d be curious how or if CP is tracking his virtual ratings, and whether he has an audience of tens or an audience of thousands and how that number affects his perception of this grand experiment.
I can’t believe it’s been a year…seems much longer. I used to be a very loyal AM1500 listener….and not necessarily a huge Mischke fan….but I liked the “flow” of the listening day. I was a big Bob Davis and Garage Logic fan…loved the information that show spit out….great interviews. Now we get Ruesse out-of-his-element trying to be a wacky morning host, then at 9am we get somethng that belongs on the Disney Channel, then it gets AM1500-like for awhile….except for Matt Thomas doesn’t fit the “interesting thinking types” that used to ride the AM1500 airwaves. The station has seen better days. My first experience with the big AM1500 was Monday Night Sports Talk and then Bob Yates….that stuff will never happen again I guess.
