City Pages‘ reporting crew is experiencing some big changes: staff writer Matt Snyders has already departed, and colleague Emily Kaiser will leave the masthead soon.

Andy Mannix, who has held down a six-month Village Voice Media fellowship at the paper, has grabbed one of the permanent slots, and City Pages is advertising to fill the other position.
Because Mannix’s fellowship is expiring on schedule, CP will actually have one less body than it’s enjoyed in 2010, though staffing will remain where it was at the end of 2009. Editor Kevin Hoffman notes that Quinton Skinner’s theater reviews are going back to a weekly schedule; they had been cut to every other week during the recession.
Kaiser is returning to D.C., where she had held down a Star Tribune internship before coming to CP. She’ll become Washington City Paper’s web editor and write occasional features for the alt-weekly. Kaiser had been City Pages’ Blotter aggregator/writer and more recently wrote nice people-centered features on girl gangs and lost bands.
Snyders — who became CP’s designated lab rat, be it surviving a week at the Mall of America or trying to procure guns at local gun shows — couldn’t be reached for comment. Hoffman says Snyders had “just been doing the same thing for three years and wanted to get a taste of something different,” including jobs in his home state of Iowa. Snyders will also have a freelance news story in CP in a week or two, Hoffman adds.
