Chris Baker update: hints about life after KTLK

Wednesday’s story about Chris Baker quitting conservative talker KTLK-FM proved surprisingly popular, so here’s an update from blogger Al Peterson, who talked to the enigmatic host about what’s next:

“Resigning my position at KTLK-FM had nothing to do with the people there, they are wonderful and I will miss them,” Baker said. “It’s the evolution of our industry and I chose to put myself in a position to be ready for the media of the future, while at the same time providing security for my family. My next opportunity does just that and I am very excited.”

Media of the future? Satellite radio? The Interwebs? Maybe a Chris Baker mobile app? I’ll leave it to fans to speculate.

Rumor had it that Chris wasn’t thrilled with Minnesota weather, can’t imagine that this year made it any better for him.

Chris is more than a right wing ideologue. He has a personality and knows how to stroke people. My guess is he moves into something more entertainment orientated and moves away from political talk.

Either way, I wish him the best. I didn’t always agree with his politics, but I enjoyed his humor and ability to speak his feelings.

Baker could be the poster child for everything wrong with conservative radio today, mean spirited and a fear-monger to the core. I for one, won’t miss him a bit.

Ron, Have you listened to AM 950 at all? THAT is one looong, multi-hosted hate orgy.

No, I haven’t, David. I’m not much for ideologues no matter what side of the aisle they’re on. I’ve just happened to hear Baker more than a few times and I stand by my opinion of him.

WOW. I lovewd listening to Chris Baker. He is funny and informative. I hate listening to the scare tactics and the BUY GOLD AND SILVER AND EMERGENCY FOOD STORE because the world is coming to an end. He did the commercials but didn’t make it sound as part of the news. He never sounded like chicken little and the sky is falling. He was closer to normal than most of the over the edge radio people.I want to know where he went so I can tune him in again. Until then put Tom Emmer in or that British guy is really great to listen too. Please not another Hateful talk show host or advertiser pusher.
