The Pioneer Press is reporting that nearly 4,000 Best Buy employees at its corporate headquarters in Richfield were offered buyouts today. A spokeswoman said the program is voluntary, and workers have until Jan. 5 to decide. No layoffs have been announced.
Ben Hedrington, a Best Buy web developer and one of several employees active on the microblogging website Twitter, tweeted this afternoon that in addition to the buyout offer, employees also “heard thinking on smart directions and opportunities.”
Best Buy is scheduled to release its third-quarter financial results on Tuesday.
