Target snares designer behind Michelle Obama dress for limited-edition collection

Target unveils a new limited-edition collection Dec. 28 from an acclaimed fashion designer responsible for one of Michelle Obama’s looks, the Wall Street Journal’s Heard on the Runway blog reports. Thakoon Panichgul became a household name — in the fashion world, at least — after a floral dress he designed was worn by Obama the night her husband accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination. The Target collection includes dresses and swimsuits inspired by a Japanese tie-dying technique called Shiboir.
